EMILY PUGH

PhD Candidate

University of Alberta

I have recently started my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Kevin Devito and Dr. David Olefeldt. Using historical hydro-chemistry datasets of 32 shallow lake systems at URSA, I will be evaluating the interaction of local scale landcover, climate interactions, water table fluctuations and residence time on DOC characterisation of shallow lakes on the Boreal Plain.

Prior to this opportunity, I worked within the Land Quality Team at a consultancy following the completion of an intergrated Masters at Cardiff University. My research undertaken at Cardiff University included the effects of temporal changes on acid mine drainage in a South Wales river, and a remote-sensing based project looking at the influence of frost cracking on sediment production across the Ganges and Brahmaputra drainage basins in the Himalayas.
